Comparing the QCD potential in Perturbative QCD and Lattice QCD at large distances
We compare the perturbatively calculated QCD potential to that obtained from lattice calculations in the theory without light quark flavours. We examine Etot(r) = 2mpole + VQCD(r) by re-expressing it in the MS mass m ≡ mMS(mMS) and by choosing specific prescriptions for fixing the scale μ (dependent on r and m). By adjusting m so as to maximise the range of convergence, we show that perturbativ...
متن کاملNon-perturbative improvement of lattice QCD at large momenta
We propose a method to improve lattice operators composed of Wilson fermions which allows the removal of all corrections of O(a), including those proportional to the quark mass. It requires off-shell improvement of quark fields and composite operators, which is achieved by studying the behaviour of quark and gluon correlation functions at large momenta. On leave of absence from Dipartimento di ...
متن کاملThe non-perturbative QCD potential
The potential between heavy quarks can be rigorously defined in a QCD effective field theories framework. I discuss the general situation when the coupling constant may not be considered small and provide an explicit expression for the potential valid up to order 1/m. Spin dependent and spin independent terms are expressed in terms of Wilson loops, completing an ideal journey started twenty yea...
متن کاملPerturbative QCD at HERA
The H1 and ZEUS combined data set on Neutral Current (NC) and Charged Current (CC) ep and ep inclusive cross sections is used as the input for next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD parton density function (PDF) fits resulting in a new preliminary PDF set called HERAPDF2.0 (prel.). The analysis yields small experimental uncertainties and includes estimates for ...
متن کاملQcd Phases in Lattice Qcd
It is believed that QCD undergoes phase transitions as temperature T and the baryon density, controlled by a chemical potential μ, increase. For example, an expected phase structure is found in Fig.1 of ref. 1. To theoretically investigate what really happens at non-zero T and μ in QCD, lattice calculations seem ideal. Indeed, as reviewed in ref. 2, lattice QCD investigations are very successfu...
